Download as zip file

The first step in how to upload a theme to Shopify is to make sure that your theme is downloaded as a zip file. When you purchase your theme, the file should be provided to you as a zip file, but if it is not, you can simply convert to one yourself.

Go to your Shopify account

The next step in how to upload a theme to Shopify is to go to your store’s admin account. There are many ways to do this, but the easiest way is to type in your store’s link on Google, followed by /admin. It would look like this: “www.mycoolstorename.com/admin”, and once signed in, it will take you directly to your admin panel.

Now that you’re in, the next thing you’ll want to do when looking for how to upload a theme to Shopify is to search for the “Sales Channels” category, then the Online Store link. This will take you to the section where you can edit your Online store, which includes editing and uploading a new Shopify theme.

Upload your theme

From here, the next step in how to upload a theme to Shopify is to click on the “Themes” link. This is where all your store themes will be. Scroll to the bottom of the page and look for “Theme Library”. Next, you’ll want to click on “Add Theme”. This will allow you to upload a new theme to your Shopify store.

Choose your new theme (as a zip file) from your downloads. From here, your new store should be uploaded. To set this new theme as your updated store, click on “Actions”, then “Publish”. Congrats! You have learned how to upload a theme to Shopify!
